Peter Bauert: Host Europe Takes on a Greener Initiative with Virtuozzo
Peter Bauert commends Host Europe’s green endeavors by utilizing the Virtuozzo, a premier virtualization technology primarily designed to meet the industry’s sustainable solution requirements.
Recognized as one of the leading internet services providers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Host Europe offers a wide range of services for clients, including enterprise hosting, dedicated servers, VPS servers, managed services, and co-location – all requiring a high energy consumption and IT infrastructure support.
In its initiative of seeking cost-effective, eco-friendly, and efficient solutions, Host Europe commenced its green hosting initiative in 2005 and has completed its three-part strategy:
- Implementation of virtualization in its operations by utilizing Swsoft Virtuozzo
- The construction of an energy efficient datacenter located in the Köln
- The acquisition of carbon neutral energy from green energy suppliers
Peter Bauert, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Parallels, says the attempt has proven to be a remarkable success that would encourage other companies to follow suit.
Host Europe Operations Director Patrick Pulvermueller says, “Virtualization is the only green hosting initiative which has been deployed across all of Host Europe’s datacenters and has improved our profitability.”
The company reports having saved a remarkable rate of as much as 63% in power consumption and increased EDITDA by employing the Virtuozzo alone. Moreover, Host Europe managed to focus more on the development of its virtualized servers providing clients with equal performance by sharing idle CPU and memory cycles, improved VPS management tools, and lowered costs on dedicated servers by as much as 70%.
